Prawn in Butter Pepper Garlic Sauce

Prawn in butter pepper garlic sauce has been on my “ to-do list”  for almost a year now.  I usually stay away from seafood dishes that look bland.  But all that changed when I tried this mouthwatering delicacy in Istanbul, Turkey.  The sauce for so full of flavor, it was like party in my mouth. I could go back to Istanbul just for this tasty delicacy.

Whenever I buy prawn I either make prawn ghashi (coconut gravy tempered with Asafoetida)  or prawn pulav. Last time I bought I decided to keep some to try this. I decided to go with my instincts and decided not to follow any recipe but try my own. The basics ingredients are butter and pepper. My hubby has bought some yellow and red capsicum . I thought using them will add to the flavor and the overall appeal of the dish.

If you are health conscious, you can skip the butter and use oil . It will still taste very good.

Ingredients
Prawn – 350 gms
Onion – big
Capsicum – 2 medium
Garlic – 1 pod (20 cloves)
Soy sauce – 1 tsp
Pepper -  3 tsp freshly ground
Salt to taste
For marination
Corn flour – 3 to 4 tbsp
Soy sauce – 2 tsp
Garlic paste
Salt a pinch

Method
1.       Marinate the prawns with the ingredients mentioned under “For marination” for about 30 mins
2.       In a wok, melt some butter and lightly brown the marinated prawns. Do not deep fry. A
3.       Add water into the bowl the prawn was marinated and keep this for later use
4.       Remove and keep aside.
5.       In the same wok heat some more oil. Add the onions and sauté till they are soft and translucent.
6.       Then add capsicum and fry. When it’s a tad undercooked, add garlic and sauté for a minute or two.
7.       Add the water from the marinade (step3). If you have chicken stock that can be used as well.
8.       Adjust the consistency as per your liking.
9.       Finally add prawn and  cook on a low flame for 5 minutes or until the prawns are done.
10.   Sprinkle freshly crushed pepper powder.

Serve hot.
