Fish Fiesta – Mackerel (Bangda Fry)

It is fish time. After a long time, almost 5 months my hubby bought fish .  Last couple of months had been very hectic and there was no time for a fish feast in my house. But that time is behind us now.
As it was a holiday yesterday we were in a mood for fish. I had the energy to cook and hubby had the time to go to the market .Moreover we just bought is clay pot to cook fish and I was dying to use it.  Of course the recipe of the fish curry i cooked in it will follow soon.

I am a fish fanatic. Coming from coastal Karnataka and a family of fish lovers it hard not to be one . Given a choice between fish and chicken , i would definitely choose fish . Even from a nutrition point of view fish is very healthy . Fish has Omega-3 fats that reduces chances of blood clots and hence fish is good for the heart. The fish is a healthy choice for protein compared to other meat and poultry .

Here is a simple rava friend mackerel (bangda/Raju(Konkani)).  These are baby mackerels that I have used .

Ingredients
Mackerel(Baby) – 10
Lemon Juice – 3tsp
Red chilli Powder –  4 tsp ( as per taste)
Turmeric (Haldi) Powder – 2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Rava – 1 cup  for frying ..

Method
1.         Mix all the first 5 ingredients and leave the fish to marinate for at least an hour. Put it in the refrigerator if you will not be using it for more than an hour.
2.          Keep some rava ready on the plate. Coat the fish in the rava .
3.        Heat oil in a pan.  Place the rava coated fish in the oil and let it cook for at least 5 minutes. Then turn it  over and cook the other side as well.
