Cabbage Sanna Polo (Cabbage Dosa)

In today’s fast paced life, there is hardly any time to waste prepping and cooking an elaborate dinner. What we need today are “express recipes”. The days of soak, grind, marinate for hours are all gone. One such dish is Cabbage sanna polo.  If you want to spice up a dinner/lunch that includes just rice, dal and upkari (sabzi), cabbage sanna polo is the solution.

Cabbage sanna polo can be made in two ways. One is the express method another is a bit time consuming. I believe in spending less time cooking and more time eating, so posting the simpler version here for now.

Ingredients:
Cabbage - 1 medium sized
Onion -2 medium
Rice flour – 1 cup
Red chili powder – 4 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Water

Method:
1.       Chop cabbage and onion and mix in a bowl.
2.       To this add all the above ingredients
3.       Add water and adjust the consistency.  It should be thick and not like dosa batter. Do not add too much water as onion tends to give out water.
4.       Heat a tava. Add a ladle full of the batter and pat it to shape it like dosa .Add oil.
5.       Fry on both the sides.
6.       Serve with rice and dal.

Note:
You will not be able to spread this like a dosa. So take a ladle full of the batter and pour it on the tava. Then pat it with the back of the ladle to spread it.
Adjust the spice as per your taste.
